What is Plus?

Plus is the National Federation of Plus Areas of Great Britain – a social and activities organisation run entirely by its members, for its members.

Plus has been bringing people together for decades. We’re a volunteer‑run organisation that creates opportunities for adults to meet, socialise, and enjoy great activities. Every group is run by its members, which means you can get involved, shape events, and help build your local community.

Originally founded in 1941 as the National Federation of 18 Plus Groups, the organisation provides a framework for adults to meet new people, try new activities, and build genuine friendships in a relaxed, welcoming environment.

Local groups meet regularly at pubs and community venues across England, organising everything from pub quizzes and meals out to rambles, theatre trips, and weekends away. At the national level, Plus organises larger events including adventure weekends, conferences, and social gatherings.
